22A036 Drugs & Laws by Jim Davies, 9/6/2022

One of the most obscene ways in which governments invade freedom is by making and enforcing laws about what we can each choose to take into our own bodies. It's a sinister denial of the fundamental, natural self-ownership right and has nothing to do with the "dangers" of drugs; they pretend to, but actually don't care a fig about that.

In the coming zero government society there will, of course, be no such laws. That doesn't mean drugs are harmless; it means the choice to use any or not is yours alone, as it should be.

Water is the most common dangerous drug, but happily nobody has gotten round to forbidding its consumption. Fatal water intoxication is rare, but not unknown. Fortunately, evolution has given us a feedback mechanism called "thirst", which prods us both to drink and to stop drinking.

Beer is mostly water, but with a supplement of fizz, flavoring and as little as 2% of alcohol; and that 2% puts all the knee-jerk law-writers into a tizzy. It's now allowed in the USA (unlike the 1920s) but is regulated up the gazoo. Forbidden to all under a certain age, it cannot be sold without a license and with labels that warn of its dangers. And should one drive with more than a tiny amount of that alcohol in the blood, one's life can be turned upside down by enforcers and ruined; even though nobody at all was injured or endangered. So, indirectly, it's dangerous to drink beer.

Wine has typically 13% of alcohol, and tastes even better than beer, and all the intrusion above applies also to this ancient beverage.

Spirits are even stronger, so should be sipped with care; 40% is common. Many of them are delicious, so government controls them with a vengeance. In some states, it even monopolizes the sales of wine and spirits; and of course, if you want to sell it at a bar with other attractions, multiple licenses are required. The revenues yielded go to provide the enforcers with a comfortable lifestyle.

All such alcohol-based drugs are tasty, bringing a nice "buzz" of bonhomie or good cheer, promoting good relationships among people. They have downsides; drink too much and judgement gets badly blurred, or even bringing addiction with many destructive consequences; the hangovers from over-consumption are dreadful, and the liver can be damaged and life itself, shortened.

Marijuana also brings a nice peaceful "buzz", and more quickly than spirits; there's neither hangover nor liver damage, it's not addictive, nobody has died of an overdose, and it's widely trusted as a medication for a range of ills. But IMHO, it tastes icky.

Government has savagely prohibited its use, but demand has been such that in many states they have given up and instead just tax its sale, thereby profiting from its use exactly like the dealers whom it previously punished the most savagely.

Stronger drugs are, or can easily be, addictive - so extremely hard to stop using, which leads in turn to a seriously ruined life. They are illegal but that's irrelevant to the addict, except that it raises the probability of living in prison (where they are still readily available!) and so making what's left of life even more miserable. Self-respect is vital to living well, so steer well clear of these poisons.

Compelled drug use is the opposite of the more usual prohibition; and less common so far; but during the fake Covid "plague" some governments wrote laws to force people to get "vaccinated." Former President Duterte of the Philippines at one point proposed "strapping down and pushing the needle into the arm" of those who declined to accept the alleged "vaccines."

This is a very ominous development and if government is allowed to continue to exist it could spell doom for the human race. The current round of fake vaccines was rushed through with inadequate testing, but next time around injections could be well prepared ready to cause behavior modification, so as to produce a more submissive, compliant population - even modifying our DNA so as to make the change irreversible. If that is done, the hope and vast potential of a free society will be for ever lost; a "brave new world" will be a fixture.

So the time to eradicate government is right now. It's easily the most lethal drug of all.

Margaret Anna Alice is in my view the best new writer to appear this year, and last week her latest blog was a blockbuster. Since vaccines (real or fake) are certainly a form of drugs, her theme fits right in with mine above. If you have children and value them, read it now:
