24A015 Tidying-Up by Jim Davies, 4/23/2024

The new e-booklet Freedom and How to Find It presents in its third chapter how government can be removed from society, and since it's very concise it makes frequent references to other web pages - notably, QuitGov (which details job by job why it's dishonest to work for government, and how much self-esteem can be recovered by quitting) and The Anarchist Alternative (which provides an overview of the subject.)

I wrote both of those about a decade ago, and while I can't see how to improve the former I did notice that the latter could do with a little smartening. So last week I made a few improvements.

First, the navigation bar on the left of all its pages now has a bigger, clearer type font showing links to the eleven pages on the minisite - and at its top, the white "A" symbol I've replaced with the colored "CA" one shown here. The "A" is central of course, because it conveys the fact that rule is repudiated as un-natural; humans each own ourselves and nobody else does, that's the Self Ownership Axiom or SOA. So what's the "C" for?

It reflects my opinion that once society is free of rulers, it will function in a Capitalist manner, because that alone is a voluntary economic system, consistent with self-rule. Strangely, some people call themselves "anarchists" yet destroy the property of others, or even propose the "syndicalist" idea - that workers take over the factories. Nothing against employees bidding for shares in the firm they work for, that's quite often done and can be beneficial - but the "anarcho-syndicalists" don't mean bidding and transfering ownership by agreement; they mean grabbing, or stealing. Nothing voluntary about that, and so those folk are not really anarchists at all.

Perhaps some way of dealing with each other voluntarily will evolve which is not capitalist - fine. If it's better, and involves no compulsion, let it flourish. But in the meantime, anarcho-capitalism will work very well.

The other main improvement to the Anarchist Alternative site is on the page called "How to Get There from Here". It always stressed the need to spread the word, but with the new e-booklet as well as TOLFA, there is now really a great deal of help at hand, and in the revised version of that page that fact is stressed. Take a look, see how it appears to you.

I'm finding that that site, along with the QuitGov one, is increasingly useful when posting on social media. It's always good to make short posts (more people read them) but we have so much to say, it's not easy - so I quite often refer out to one or both of those sites. For example when the Republicans caved in to pressure on April 19th and "gave" $61 billion of your money to Ukraine, I posted the opinion that those traitors are no better than the Demofascists and hence that there is no political fix available, hence readers should "consider the anarchist alternative" - and made a link to that site.

Some media hosts don't allow outbound links, so one has to be circumspect. One way I use is to refer in the text to TheAnarchistAlternative as one word (so hinting: this might be part of a URL) and follow the sentence with "The suffix is info". Or I might say "search for" the site, because as noted here on 6/13/23 (in the footnote) it now shows up in the first page of search engines. Incidentally, I'm very glad to note that the same is true of my home page, TakeLifeBack.com.

So, I hope you like the tidying-up; it was well short of a makeover, but perhaps qualified as a dusting and polishing.
