25A038 Attraction by Jim Davies, 9/23/2025
Lou Carabini, in his fabulous book Liberty, Dicta & Force, observes (p. 96) that "there is no State Matchmaking Commission to regulate people's activity to ensure adequate propagation... the tens marry tens, the nines marry nines, and so on... people shop for the most desirable person who will accept them, and that is exactly what should happen, in a marketplace." Physical attraction between boys and girls is only part of the subject, adequate just for short-term or casual friendships. For long-term ones, attraction has more to do with a meeting of minds, an understanding of personalities, a blending of interests, mutual dependency, a deep attachment and fusing of identities that we call "love." Our species, like all those which reproduce with males and females, uses such criteria to pair off and produce the next generation, and it's been the most successful of all. We've done well. There are anomalies. Some seem to be born with a sense of attraction only to those of the same gender. Obviously, that does nothing to advance the species, so it deprives the victim of the immense pleasures of raising a family of his or her own children. Fortunately it's rare; I'm still not sure whether anyone chooses that lifestyle, but I doubt it. He or she loses not just that delight, but also suffers scorn and ridicule from those around him or her; so much as to drive some to suicide. In other places and eras, even government laws are set against them; the highly talented playwright Oscar Wilde was imprisoned for it, as recently as the late 19th Century. More recently, governments have caused even more wreckage by reversing their bigotry and actively promoting such deviations; in its monopoly school system it encourages young children to perform the impossible - to choose whether to be male or female. This total absurdity has boosted the ridiculous alphabet soup of Ls and Bs and Qs and Ts to the point that some adolescents don't know whether they are coming or going. Into this mess has now entered a new term: "Incel". It's short for Involuntary Celibacy. I hear it occurs most commonly among young men, who find it impossible to attract girl friends. It's no great surprise. I'm no judge of what makes men attractive to women, but I can just about manage to pick out those who are exceptionally handsome or exceptionally ugly. In between, I have to leave it to the ladies! But I have no doubt that the "incel" bunch are in the latter category. They are losers and look like losers; ill groomed, badly dressed, unambitious, unsociable. Little wonder that no girl wants to waste her time with them; because by ancient instinct, her first requirement in a mate is that he will be able to provide and care for her. So the incel problem comes down to self-respect. If you don't think highly of yourself, why should anyone else? And self-respect springs to its highest possible level when you grasp the fact that each of us is a self-owner, responsible for everything we do and entitled to all we earn and to the enjoyment of and satisfaction in all we can achieve. That understanding is one of the benefits derived from studying the TOLFA course; it points to the central importance of owning and operating your own life to the maximum of which it's capable. One result is a high self-esteem, and that is, again, prerequisite for becoming attractive to the opposite sex. From a recent article by Dr Clayton Baker: Every medical student is taught that, first and foremost, they should not cause harm to their patients, and every doctor is familiar with this maxim. It is echoed in the Hippocratic Oath and forms the basis for the four pillars of medical ethics: autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. This rule, and the core tenets of medical ethics that it underpins, were all abandoned during the Covid era. They were replaced with a brutal, inhumane, and unethical martial-law-as-public-health approach to medicine. The results were unconstitutional lockdowns, prolonged school closures, suppression of early treatment, mandated vaccinations, and silencing of dissenting views. These abuses were justified by constant propaganda and lies from public health authorities, the medical establishment, the mainstream media, and medical professional associations. |
